Dear Students,
Welcome to 5th Grade!
I cannot begin to tell you how thrilled I am to be your 5th grade teacher this year! Our year together is going to be fantastic!
Let me tell you a little bit about myself. I grew up right here in Marin County and headed down to Southern California to attend Loyola Marymount University. I spent many years at LMU, earning my Bachelor's Degree, Master's Degree and my CA Teaching Credential. Before joining the Saint Isabella family, I was an English teacher at a Catholic high school and then a Catholic middle school in the Los Angeles area. I have taught all levels of English from grades 7-12!
Teaching has always been a huge passion of mine. Even when I was a child, I used to have a pretend "school" with the other kids in our neighborhood. I would create homework assignments, teach lessons, and even do read alouds! I also come from a very long line of teachers - my mom and dad were both teachers, both of my grandmas were teachers, and even my great aunt was a teacher. They all taught right here in Marin County as well!
I live in San Anselmo with my husband, Bobby, and my darling dogs, Charlie and Huckleberry (yes, he is named after Huckleberry Finn, which is a famous novel by the author Mark Twain)! I love taking Charlie for runs (Huck doesn't particularly like running), eating at delicious restaurants, visiting the City, and spending time exploring all of Marin.
Please make sure to keep this website handy as this is where you will find information for everything happening in 5th grade.
Here's to having a great year in 5th grade!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Mitchell
